Batman Begins
A Review by Jamie
Sometimes movie critics are so off on their comments and ratings that you swear never to read any of them again. Not this time. Batman was an outstanding movie, as the critics said, and I totally agree!
If you're like me, and have never read a comic book {correctly} in your life, you'll still (amazingly) understand most of the storyline. The actors did an amazing job, and really made all the characters believable. I was pleasantly surprised that their were even some "horror-ish" moments, however for younger children this might be a little too creepy. The special effects, such as the bats, are amazingly good!
This movie is nonstop action, with a small breather ever now and again for a kiss between Bruce (Batman) and childhood friend Rachel. The villains are as entertaining as they are eerie, allowing you to love to hate them! The loyal old Butler, Alfred, is someone you'll really end up warming up to, and is a good example of the film's few "good guys".
I'd give this movie 4 stars out of 5. It was incredibly well done, and very memorable, but not quite as friendly to non-comic book readers as say, Spiderman was. Although, considering the fact that Batman (unlike
Spiderman) has no super powers, maybe the need simply wasn't there? Some parts of the movie were a bit confusing,
particularly at the beginning, but everything starts to come together after 2 hours or so.
And how does it end? With a small clue of who Batman will meet next....
