Constantine was nothing like what I expected. Prior to seeing the film I hadn't read any reviews about it or even seen any commercials featuring it; so I really had no clue what it was about or what it would be like. Was I in for a surprise...

I never seen a movie like Constantine before. It has a very interesting plot, great special effects, dark humor, and a good script. The movie's tagline is: "Hell wants him. Heaven won't take him. Earth needs him." and it fits the story perfectly. Keanu Reeves stars as John Constantine who must protect Earth from the demons of hell. Constantine was born with the gift to recognize the half-breed angels and demons that share the world with the humans. Constantine is determined to rid the world of the demons in an attempt to gain entrance into heaven through his good deeds.

Constantine soon meets Angela Dodson, who is in need of his help to find out the truth about her sister who seemingly committed suicide a few days earlier. Constantine is reluctant to help Angela however he eventually complies. According to the Catholic faith, the souls of those who commit suicide are sent directly to hell. Angela does not believe that her twin sister would have ever taken her own life and so Constantine agrees to literally travel to hell in search of her sister. What Constantine and Angela don't know is that her sister, Isabel, is part of a massive plan to allow the son of the devil to enter Earth. But how will they stop this from happening? Will Constantine's supernatural powers be strong enough to over come the foot soldiers from hell? Watch Constantine to find out.

To be perfectly honest I did not understand certain parts of the film, however I believe that is that mark of a great movie. The fact that you don't quite understand everything will make you want to watch it again and talk with others about it. Overall I really liked the movie, mainly because it had such a freshly unique storyline, and great acting and special effects.
