Hustle & FloA Review by Daniel A few friends and I went to see Hustle & Flo a couple of weeks ago because we thought it'd be a good laugh. And I must say that it was quite comical during certain parts of the movie. However I wasn't expecting the story line of the movie to be so good. The main theme of the film is about DJay's new found love for music and his passion to create music to share with others. DJay faces a very steep upward battle. Few people support his dream to become a popular musician and even fewer think he'll succeed. With the help of a few friends DJay proves that he does at least have a fighting chance. As I said, the movie does, surprisingly, have a great story line which makes it a great movie. The acting in the film is very well done, the characters are very passionate and realistic. I also found the musical score for the movie to be great as well. I like just about anything and everything when it comes to music, however the musical score for this movie is mainly Rap/Hip-Hop so you may not enjoy it much if you're not a fan of that genre of music. I also want to emphasize that the R rating is very appropriate for this film. There is quite a lot of strong language and themes used throughout the movie and Hustle & Flo is not at all suitable for younger ages, especially those under the age of 13. But do not let the rating or your "Stereotypical thoughts" prevent you from seeing this movie, because it really is very well done, quite inspiring in fact. Rating: 4 Stars |
