War of the WorldsA Review by Daniel A friend of mine had read the book titled War of the Worlds and said it was very good. So naturally we wanted to see how the movie compared with the book. Well first of all let me say that my friend was kind enough to spoil the ending for me so that may have impacted the way I felt about this movie... I guess I'll just be frank and say that I was very disappointed in the movie War of the Worlds. From the start, I thought a lot of the acting was very poor and unnatural. Even the experienced Tom Cruise didn't had some poor acting moments. However I will say that the special effects and musical score were excellent. They were both very well done. Though I was very disappointed in the ending. The ending is the same as in the book. I won't spoil the movie for you by telling you how it ends, but it seemed like a rather boring and unimaginative ending. According to my friend, there are several similarities between the book and movie, however the book takes place in the early 1900's whereas the movie is in a modern time setting. Overall I'd give this film 2 out of 5 stars mainly because I was not impressed with the acting and overall storyline, especially the ending. Rating: 2 Stars |
