Dr. Tim LaHaye, who conceived the idea of fictionalizing an account of the Rapture and the Tribulation, is a noted author, minister, and nationally recognized speaker on the Bible prophecy. Jerry B. Jenkins is the writer of the Left Behind series. He owns the Jerry B. Jenkins Christian Writers Guild, an organization dedicated to mentoring aspiring authors.

There are two separate series to the Left Behind books: The Kids and The Adults. The Kids series is focused around a group of teenagers, called the Young Tribulation Force, who work together not only to help non-believers understand the truth but also to survive. The kids must survive the wrath of Nicolae Carpathia and the Global Community whom he leads to “bring world peace” and rid the world of Judah-ites who are the newfound followers of God. In a very short time period Carpathia takes control of the entire world. He can speak over a dozen languages which allows him to communicate many people around the world and with his new influential power he creates a universal monetary system and a universal and a world-wide religion that pays tribute to him. Carpathia claims to want peace and harmony however only the Judah-ites see him for what he really is, the antichrist. There are 40 books in The Kids series, each of which is about 150 pages long. Over 10 million copies of The Kids series have been sold worldwide.

The Adults series is based on the same storyline and main events as the Kids Series however instead of teenagers being the main characters you have several adults. Funnily enough, the adults in the Adult Series are mentioned in The Kids series however the kid characters are never mention in the Adult Series. There are 12 books in The Adults series and they are each about 300-400 pages long.

Both of the series are fantastic! They are both packed with action, suspense, friendship, humor, tragedy, and even a little romance. These are some of my favorite books because they are so involved and interesting. Just about anything you could imagine happens in these novels. You’ve got characters dodging bullets, jumping from helicopter to helicopter in mid air, high speed chases, dangerous rescues, and then of course the many judgments of God. I have yet to finish either series at this time but I’ve been reading them in my spare time and hope to finish them soon.

I highly recommend these books to all of you who are reading this. The Kids series is perfect for teenagers and The Adult series is great for ages 13+. Even if you are not a highly religious person I think you will still enjoy these books since they have so many elements to them. You can visit the Left Behind website at: www.leftbehind.com.
