Number 12 ReferencesBook 5 -Although there are more than a total of 12
candles, there are 12 large candles in the foreground of the American
front cover. -Harry “had run barely a dozen steps”
when he reached Dudley and the dementor in the alleyway. -The headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix is
located at number 12 Grimmauld Place. -Harry's hearing with the Ministry of Magic is
on August 12th. -When Harry first arrives at Grimmauld Place, he is greeted by Bill, who at the moment was “trying to gather up 12 scrolls at once”. -When Harry and Mr. Weasley arrive at the
Ministry of Magic, Kingsley asks Mr. Weasley for “as much information as
possible on flying muggle vehicles sighted in the last 12 months”. -Fudge and half a dozen other Wizengamot members vote in favor of convicting Harry. *-Sirius explains to Harry that Voldemort is not going to go up against the Ministry with a dozen death eaters. *-Harry thinks it's "galling" to be told not to be rash by someone
who had spent 12 years in Azkaban. *-During one of Harry's detentions with
Umbridge, he glances out the window at the Quidditch Pitch and sees half a dozen
black figures flying around the pitch. *-At midnight, Harry is in the common
room when he starts drifting off to sleep and almost gets to the door of the
Department of Mysteries before he's awakened by Dobby. -At one point, Harry sees Dobby picking up a
half a dozen hats that Hermione had left lying around the common room. -One of Snape's homework assignments is 12
inches of parchment on the properties of moonstone and it's uses in
potion-making. -After Harry sees the snake bite Mr. Weasley
Professor McGonagall escorts him to the headmasters office. “Though it was now
well past midnight, there were voices coming from inside the room, a
positive babble of them. It sounded as though Dumbledore was entertaining at
least a dozen people. -When Harry and the Weasley children are at
Grimmauld Place worrying about Mr. Weasley, Sirius summons half a dozen
Butterbeers, which come flying out of the pantry. -At one point at Grimmauld Place it says
“…[Harry] had experienced terror, relief, and then terror again in the last 12
hours,” -When Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny run into
Lockhart at St. Mungo's, he says, "Well, how about those autographs, then?
Shall we say a round dozen, you can give them to all your little friends
then and nobody will be left out!" -For once, Harry is not looking forward to
having to go back to Hogwarts and be around Dolores Umbridge, who had no doubt
managed to force through another dozen decrees in their absence. -Hermione tells Harry to meet her at 12
o'clock in The Three Broomsticks on Valentine’s Day. -During his date with Cho Harry is “[amazed
at] how much more difficult it was to extend hit arm twelve inches and
touch her hand than to snatch a speeding Snitch from midair…” -Sometime after Harry’s interview in The
Quibbler is published, “Professor Trelawney broke into hysterical sobs
during Divination and announced to the startled class, and a very disapproving
Umbridge, that Harry was not going to suffer an early death after all,
but would live to a ripe old age, become Minister of Magic, and have 12
children”. -When Harry visits Snape’s worst memory via the pensieve, James disarms Snape, and his wand flies 12 feet in the air. -When the trio is spread out in the shade of the
beech tree near the lake, Ron talks them through his first save of the match for
what felt like the dozenth time. *-In the Care of Magical Creatures O.W.L. exam,
the fifth years have to correctly identify a knarl hidden among a dozen
hedgehogs. *-Ron reminds Harry that Hermione got 112%
on her Charms exam last year. -Ravenclaw sixth year Eddie Carmichael tries to
get Ron and Harry to buy a whole pint of Baruffio's Brain Elixir for 12
galleons. -There are 12 doors in the circular room
in the Department of Mysteries. -There are a dozen death eaters in the
Department of Mysteries. -Harry pulls Ron's arm over his shoulder, just
as he had done with Dudley months ago, and thinks they have a 1-in-12
chance of getting it right this time. -After Fudge sees Voldemort disapparate in the
Ministry Atrium, Dumbledore tells him it's time he listened to sense, and he's
