Summary and RankBy Daniel
So your saying, "Why do you need a summary for the movie, it's almost the
same as the book". Well the key word is almost. Below is a summary
of the movie Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Differences between
the book and the movie are listed as well. A 'rank' of the movie from the scale
of 1-20 (1 being the best) is also given. DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE BOOK AND MOVIE -In the 2nd Harry Potter book it was a pudding that Dobby dropped on the floor. In the movie Dobby drops a cake on Mrs. Mason’s head. -In the movie, Uncle Vernon falls out the window as he is trying to stop Harry from escaping. In the book, he does not fall out the window. -Unlike the book, there is no de-gnoming in the movie. -In the movie, Harry does not give his free books, which he received from Lockhart, to Ginny. -In the movie, Lockhart does not announce that he is the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher while he is in Flourish and Blotts. -There is no brawl between Mr. Weasley and Lucious Malfoy in the movie. -In the movie, Ron does not engage the Invisibility booster until after the Ford Anglia had risen several feet into the air. -Warner Bros. couldn’t resist adding a bit more Hollywood to the film by adding the scene in which Harry is dangling from the car above the Hogwarts Express. -In the movie, Filch is the one who finds Harry and Ron after the tree collision. In the book, it is Snape who finds them. -In the movie, Ron does not say why he is scared of spiders. -In
the movie, Dumbledore does not even examine Mrs. Norris before announcing that
she is petrified. -In the book, Professor Binns tells the students about the Chamber of Secrets. Yet in the movie Professor McGonagall is the one that tells them. -In the book, Moste Potente Potions is in the Restricted section. Yet in the movie, Hermione pulls it from a library shelf as if it is an ordinary book. -In the movie, Snape does not allow Ron and Harry to be dueling partners because of Ron’s broken wand. In the book, he suggests Harry and Draco as partners just to be nasty. -In the book, Harry actually puts the Sorting Hat on while in Dumbledore’s office. In the movie, Harry simply talks to it as it sits on a shelf. -For some reason, Warner Bros. decided to have Harry and Ron keep their original voices even after they drank the Polyjuice potion. -In the movie, Harry easily pulls the wad of paper out of Hermione’s petrified hand. Yet in the book, he had to carefully pull it out. -In the book, Harry and Ron find out that Ginny had been taken into the Chamber of Secrets while hiding in a wardrobe in the teacher’s staff room. -In the movie, Fawkes heals Harry after Riddle has gone. But in the book, Fawkes heals Harry before he destroys the Diary.
Therefore I give the movie Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets the Rank: 2
